Summary:
Our recent visit to The Filling Station out at Indigo focused on the granular details that elevate a project from a plan to a place. We conducted a close-range review of the paving patterns, material textures, and the current state of the planting palette to evaluate how these elements are weathering and interacting. Documenting these smaller “intersections” of material and life helps refine our design standards for future phases and ensures the long-term integrity of the site’s aesthetic.
notes:
Material Interplay: We analyzed the contrast between the rigid, tactile hardscape and the organic textures of the surrounding vegetation. This relationship defines the project’s “edge conditions” and subtly directs the flow of pedestrian traffic.
Paving & Geometry: We reviewed paving patterns for alignment and proper drainage under real-world conditions. Observing how light interacts with varied material finishes helps refine our future stone and texture specifications.
Planting Density: Assessing the growth of recent plantings confirms if our spacing and layering effectively provide the intended screening. This check ensures the green infrastructure is maturing to meet both aesthetic and functional goals.
